About: Wexham Park Hospital

What I liked

I have recently had my first experience of having an operation and staying overnight in hospital. I have been hugely impressed with every aspect of the treatment I received. This started with a meeting with the consultant as an outpatient. Although I was seen some time after the appointment time, regular announcements were made about the delay. The consultant was professional and I had every confidence in him. On the day of my operation, I met a variety of staff - the surgeon, the anaesthetist and the support team. Each took time to explain what would be happening and gave me great confidence in them. After the operation and the recovery room, I was taken to the ward. I really became aware of my surroundings and what was happening later that same evening. The night staff were very caring and made me as comfortable as possible. The next morning the day shift took over and I saw just how well they worked as a team and how busy they were. They cleaned and changed every bed, checked my blood pressure and pulse very regularly and generally displayed a highly professional and caring approach. Despite being very busy and clearly under pressure, they remained cheerful at all times. I have heard many negative stories about the NHS in general and Wexham Park Hospital in particular. However my experience shows that the NHS is still a national treasure and that the staff at WPH deliver a first class service

What could be improved

It may sound daft but I don't think my experience could have been improved
