"I was well looked after and always reassured by..."

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

What I liked

My first ever hospital stay at age 65. No idea what to expect. Two days on ward 33 and 12 on ward 37. All staff kind, helpful, cheerful and reassuring, did a lot to keep me positive as I had to have a colostomy op. Everything was explained to me and nothing was too much trouble. I do wonder if some folks bad experiences/complaints aren't coloured by their own attitude. I was pretty apprehensive about the surgery and only had a day to get used to the idea but was pleasantly surprised at the way it was all handled.

The food wasn't bad either - managed to gain a few pounds which was good as I had lost a lot pre-admission.

What could be improved

The usual - staff overworked, need more nurses on, and it would have been nice to see the same faces more often rather than so many different ones, but they were all great. Thank you so much.
