"I couldn't fault anything about this experience of Macclesfield General Hospital"

About: Macclesfield District General Hospital / Cardiology

(as a relative),

My wife needed to be referred to hospital so the Doctor phoned the Macclesfield General to say that a patient was coming in. They gave my wife's details over the phone and gave my wife a letter to present at reception.

We arrived, there has been a refurbishment since we were last at the hospital, it looked very tidy and clean. We picked up a ticket and waited a short time.

My wife was then taken into a side section with cubicles. Again, we both noted that it looked clean and presentable.

The nurse then came over, I waited in the A&E reception. I asked if I could come through and she said it was fine. When I got through, my wife was plugged into the ECG machine and bloods were being taken.

The nurse explained the procedures - all the nurses we came into contact with her great - very good communication.

The nurses explained that bloods can give an indications of what's happening/happened.

We waited for the blood tests to come back and the doctor came down and took full notes, asked my wife questions - again he was very polite.

Then a nurse, Don Johnson, came in and explained everything to us both, he was very good. Anything we asked he was able to answer, and did so in full. Everyone we saw was excellent.

The end result was that the main registrar came to see my wife, made the decision that it would be ok for my wife to go home. The registrar spoke to my wife, discharged her and said not to hesitate should she feel unwell or her condition deteriorate.

On previous occasions at the hospital, we have had some not-so-good experiences but I couldn't fault anything about this experience - it was overall very very good.
