"A&E Carlisle infirmary"

About: Cumberland Infirmary / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Could have been the time of day or nature of my injury but I was seen immediately.

I accept that doctors only have one job to do but it's a shame they can't show a little compassion, I was clearly nervous and scared and while treating me it might have been nice for the doctor to have actually spoken to me, it's not particularly nice being stitched up, never mind sitting in silence.

I was treated kindly by the nurses but a little worried due to the circumstances of my injuries (which I told them about) they didn't even contact my doctor or me for a follow up. Was it not for the private help I'm receiving it could have been a different outcome.

Firstly, may we sincerely apologise for the length of time it has taken to provide a response to you after you took the time and trouble to share your thoughts about the care you received from the Cumberland Infirmary. We are sorry that you felt the doctor treating you showed little compassion. Of course, you would have been nervous and scared and it is up to our doctors to ensure that they are reassuring. We are sorry this did not happen. We are pleased that the nurses who treated you did this with kindness and that you felt a little more reassured by this.
