What I liked
I had an endoscopy at Durham hospital. The whole team were very friendly and attentive. In particular the consultant and the nurse who was with me from start to end were professional, friendly and considerate. They explained everything to me and listened to what I had to say about my condition. After the procedure the nurse explained what had been done. Told me what would happen next with regards to notification and appointments. I was given a printed report with a photo of my insides. Amazing.
What could be improved
My husband who accompanied me had to wait in the reception area the whole of the time I was there. This was not a problem for us as he sat and read a paper and I was well cared for. I was unable to explain to him what was happening and how long I would be. I understand that space is limited and patient privacy is paramount but sometimes a frailer patient might need a loved one with them.
Anything else?
I was naturally apprehensive about having an endoscopy. I was given a sedative and intended to watch the screen. I went out like a light and woke up in recovery. Never felt a thing during or after.
"The staff and procedures were first class, Thank..."
