I had the preliminary health assessment at the Peninsular, Plymouth. I needed to fit in a 12 week GP referral at the gym to attain maximum fitness for the surgery. I'd heard favourable reports from various people about the centre,re: cleanliness, food and general standard of care.
Afterwards I realised that extreme care is taken to avoid any infection reaching the hospital and post surgery infection.
I received nothing but kindness and politeness. I am now in my 10th week after surgery and do not seem to have suffered any of the problems that would arise. The pain eased after week 4-5, the scar is small and has healed nicely.
If surgery of that nature proved absolutely necessary in the future I would not hesitate to choose the Peninsula Treatment Centre.
My only regret is that the NHS seems to have to use a private profit making company to achieve this efficiency. I do realise that the local NHS hospital is not confined to straightforward cases.
