"Most of the care from nurses very good, some was..."

About: North East London Treatment Centre Care UK

What I liked

some nurses were of excellent standard, professional caring and experts in their field.Sadly some other nurses were thoughtless and lacked any expertise.

The Consultant obviously did a good job as i am walking around painfree and able to eat what i want to.so thank you

What could be improved

some nurses need more training .role playing how patients act when in pain and feel vunerable.telling me i was 'awful 'when i wanted painkillers was not appropriate language.

when i asked to go to the toilet i was told the nurse couldnt help as it was a safety issue.it was about 'balance' a good nurse put her arm out and i lightly took her arm and got up.The first nurse caused me alot of distress as did the one who said i was awful.

again i cant thank certain nurses for there kindness thoughfulness and most of all their obvious expertise.

Anything else?

although i appreciate that abdomial surgery is painful, the tablets i went home with were inadequate tramadol made me very sick so was only left with ibrufen and paracetamol.i couldnt think straight to tell anyone dr or anyone.i know this may sound silly but i think if somebody rang patients to see how they are(follow up care)it would have helped me enormously.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback and I'm sorry to hear that some areas of the service didn't meet your satisfaction.

Here at North East London NHS Treatment Centre we have taken into account that patients may not be 'fully' alert at the time of discharge, especially following a general anaesthetic. For this reason we have implemented post operative phone calls to patients 24 hours after discharge bridging the gap between discharge and follow up appointments.

In the last year all staff have attended customer care training and our priority is understanding and delivering patient centred care and dignity.

Please do not hesitate to contact me directly on 0208 598 4710 so I can investigate your particular case should you wish to.

Kind regards

Stacy
