"Delay in antenatal scan"

About: Colchester General Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I was told my 12 week scan would have to wait unti I was 16 weeks.

This is my first baby, I don't understand why I have to wait and everything I read tells me it should be earlier. I didn't get an explanation other than they were busy.

I now feel unsure of what will happen with my future maternity care.

The Ultrasound Manager tells me that the department has been busy over Christmas and New Year but we have nevertheless been able to offer our patients scan appointments at the correct stage of their pregnancy i.e. the scan can be done anytime between 11 weeks and 3 days and up to 14 weeks.

I apologise if you have been told that there are no appointments available. The Ultrasound Manager tells me that staff have been bringing to her attention any requests that they have had difficulty fitting in - this one may have escaped her attention. She says she will remind staff to remain vigilant.

In the meantime if you could email me your details, I will send them through to the Ultrasound Manager for her to get you a scan appointment at the correct time.

Many thanks.
