"The care I received at Tameside Hospital "

About: Tameside General Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I had hand surgery recently to correct a Dupuytren's Contracture.

From the moment I arrived at I was greeted by friendly, smiling faces and was put at my ease. I was back on the Day Surgery Ward just two hours after my surgery was scheduled where the nurses were helpful and caring in spite of being extremely busy. The ancillary helper brought me tea and toast and was friendly and helpful. I was discharged at later that day and felt that the whole experience had been very positive. Since that time I have returned several times for dressings to be changed and to see the consultant and the physiotherapist and each time I have found everyone to be very helpful and understanding. There have been times when I have had to wait for treatment but that is to be expected in such a busy department.

Thank you for posting these comments. I am very pleased that you were so happy with your care and treatment on the Day Surgery ward at Tameside Hospital. I am also pleased to see how satisfied you were with your after care in the Physiotherapy department.

I will make sure the staff in both areas are made aware of your kind and appreciative comments.

Kind regards

Philip Dylak

Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved?

Please contact Philip Dylak, Director of Nursing at philip.dylak@tgh.nhs.uk
