"A friendly service... but I miss the beer"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

After my daughter was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease (an allergy to gluten/wheat) a blood test then an endoscopy (aaagh) showed me to be the carrier. A bone density scan also showed me to have osteoporosis. Information on the condition was carefully explained by my consultant, Dr Sanders, and I was advised to go on a gluten free diet. Not too difficult but do miss beer!

The treatment both myself and my daughter are having at the Royal Hallamshire and Northern General Hospitals in Sheffield is excellent. Staff are invariably friendly, helpful and efficient and the waits for the various tests not excessive.

Only problem was that it took a long time for my daughter's condition to be diagnosed.
