"Giving Blood at the Sheffield Centre"

About: NHS Blood and Transplant

(as the patient),

I always give blood just before Christmas.

This year I turned up only to be asked if I had an appointment, which I didn't. Luckily I was able to give blood as they had a free slot. It's a shame that the number of donation beds has been cut quite dramatically over the years since I started and you can no longer drop in on the spur of the moment to donate blood. Working full time you can't ways find the time to commit to an appointment - however in future I will try.

As always the staff are a pleasant and friendly lot and the half hour passes quickly.

Dear RDRP

Firstly let me apologise for the delay in responding to your comments, we are new to Patient Opinion as of today and we will endeavor to respond in a timely manner to all comments posted on here in the future.

Thank you for your comments and your commitment to being a regular blood donor. The organisation works hard to balance the demand and supply of blood and we are keen to work with donors to improve the care and service.

Its good to hear that you find the staff pleasant and friendly, I will feed this back to them in Sheffield.
