What I liked
My mother cut her hand open so we took her to A&E. It was rather quiet, being a Sunday night. Everywhere was very clean and the environment felt calm and safe even. The nurses communicated well with everyone.
What could be improved
A lot of the nurses were very abrupt, a mentally disturbed elderly man was running around the corridors being chased by ambulance staff (and eventually locked himself in the only toilet available) and the chairs were rather uncomfortable. Also, when we were sent to X-ray, she was very vague at pointing us in the right direction and there were no signs. We were wandering round for a long time, just guessing where to go.
Anything else?
Bring a cushion, and somebody with a good sense of direction.
