"CUH just keeps getting better and better"

What I liked
CUH has improved greatly over the decades I've lived in Croydon. Reception staff are helpful, the nurse kept patients informed of any delays (and reasons for this) and carried out routine checks efficiently and with courtesy. The doctor listened attentively, was open to my view and was willing to discuss the wider context for my condition. It's refreshing to be treated as an intelligent adult. The consultant (at an earlier appointment) remedied factual errors in my records at my request, with the minimum of fuss or delay. The consultant was candid about my treatment options and that this area was not his specialism. I was completely satisfied with both appointments.
What could be improved
The dire framed homilies about quality on the wall are a joke (something on the lines of): 'Perfection is our goal and mere excellence is not an option'. Please replace them with pictures or supply sick bags.
A & E and the resuscitation unit in particular have improved enormously in the last few years. There is a constant flow of emergency cases. Staff work efficiently and courteously to deal with everything, including aggressive patients who want to self medicate with supplies from the trolley before an accurate assessment has been made. I feel involved in decisions about my care and am generally treated with respect. Somehow CUH has got rid of the occasional clinical Martian who used to slip into senior positions at Mayday and have zero warmth or skill in communicating with humanoids. I really appreciate the hard work and skill from those who treated me (on a number of occasions this year.) Thank you and I hope we can keep A & E in Croydon.
