"Psychiatric Assessment Team"

About: University Hospital Wishaw

(as the patient),

I have seen the PAT a few times because I have depression, anxiety, and borderline personality disorder. At first I found them helpful and they told me to come back any time if I needed them. Once I was given the diagnosis of borderline personality disorder I felt they started to treat me differently. On more than one occasion one of the team came to A&E and told me that they would not be talking to me because they wouldn't be admitting me to hospital and that I had to go home and stop wasting their time. I just wanted someone to listen to me.

One day I was really distressed and was advised to go to A&E twice in the one day. When the nurse I saw realised that I had already been seen she told me that I was just 'playing the system.' It seems to me like the staff don't care.
