What I liked
When I arrived at A&E I was seriously hurt after a fall.I was shocked and as I had been working away from home,I was in unfamiliar territory with no family close to hand. I was treated with the greatest of respect, kindness and re-assurance.When my family arrived, some hours later, I was just about to be taken into surgery but the staff went out of their way to show my family where to go to wait in the restaurant, which ward I was going into after surgery and where to sit outside of the ward to see me return from theatre.Later at the end of their shift, one nurse came up to the ward to see if my family and I were alright and when they found I hadn't come back as yet, they phoned recovery to see if I was OK and to let my family know how much longer I was likely to be.
What could be improved
Very little could be improved, except for a little more understanding and discretion about the afternoon visiting hour. Please could it be taken into account how far some people have to travel to visit and not be quite so strict with terminating the visit at precisely 3.30pm. My family used to travel for a round trip of 150 miles to visit me.
Anything else?
I am very happy with the care I received whilst at Dorset County Hospital.I found everyone to be caring, professional and hard working.I have no complaints at all.
"The wonderful work you do, by all staff, is so..."
