"Great staff, but poor communication at Tameside General"

About: Tameside General Hospital

(as the patient),

I was admited recently for an op.

The staff on the esu were absolutly fabulous, my probs started after the insulin infusion finished, i was having hypo's on a daily basis and it took 4 days to see a diabetic nurse (think this is ridiculous!!) so when i was supposed to be moving to exersice my knee each time i did i had a hypo!

That was finally sorted out nearly a week after the op, i was discharged a few days later and they said all e-mails had been sent to distict nurse and physio, however! it got to later the next week and i had heard nothing so rang physio and district nurses and guess what? they had no information on me at all.

It took several calls to Tameside before i finally got my appts, so the staff are great but the cogs go round way too slow for my liking, think they need to get their act together!

Thank you for posting these comments.

I am pleased that you were happy with the care in the surgical unit, but disappointed to hear about the delays in seeing the diabetic nurse.

I will ensure this is raised with the surgical unit and the manager for the service. I cannot comment on the services you received after discharge as they are not provided by the hospital.

In spite of the issues you raise I do hope you are now much recovered

With every best wish

Philip Dylak
