I live in Hull, and I suffer from ulcerative colitis, diverticular disease and IBS. After losing my job and then looking after my dad until he died, I ended up with depression, and was basically a wreck and couch potatoe. I was referred to Lifestyle Changes by my counsellor at The Haven centre, then to Active Lifestyles. When they weighed me I was 12st/12lbs - the heaviest I'd ever been (I'm only 5ft 8 ins). My advisor at Active Lifstyles started me on a weight loss and gym program in August 2011. Between then and the end of 2011, and after a couple of relapses on my part, I've lost nearly a full stone in weight and over two inches off my waist and my abdominal problems are easing. My next target is to reach 11st/7lbs, which I know I can do. Another benefit is in my confidence in myself, and around others. I'm now a lot more outgoing than I was and feel more at ease with other people, instead of being withdrawn and feeling sorry for myself. My counsellors idea of referring me to Lifestye Changes was inspired, and the advisors both there and at Active Lifestyles have been brilliant. I can't thank the three of them enough. I'm still a "work in progress", but know I can change. If I can do it , so can you. By the way, I'm nearly 58 years old and am feeling as fit and good about myself as I can ever remember.
