What I liked

Clearly many hard working, committed staff.

What could be improved

Avoidance of patients contracting a serious infection as a result of hospital surgery/care.

Greater understanding of fundamental patient care practices by certain nursing staff.

Stronger ward management by Senior Staff.

More responsive action by Senior Staff and Hospital services to an emerging situation.

Stronger liaison between and more ongoing information from the Consultants Team.

Anything else?

As I experienced similar issues across 2 wards and X-ray services it would give grounds to suggest there may be systemic failures in this hospital around patient care training.

A detailed report 'registering concern' has been submitted today via the Patient Liaison system. (pals)

I was fortunate to have robust good underlying health and strong family support system. It gives pause for considerable thought if a more elderly frail person without such family support had had a similar experience.
