My baby Grandson was admitted to the childrens ward. On visiting I was met by piles of dirty nappies left on his bedside table awaiting weighing by nursing staff. My Grandson had no name bracelet. The nursing staff told me they thought he may be teething or had a viral infection. My daughter and I had to request an ultrasound scan as his consultant wanted to send him home and we felt he was very ill. The scan showed he was very ill and while waiting for a doctor to advise a plan of care we were treated by nursing staff as though we had no knowledge but my daughter and I both have a medical background thank goodness. My Grandson was transfered to Great Ormond Street after eventually seeing a doctor some 4 hours later by hospital transport as the Trust did not want use a blue light transfer. On arrival at Great Ormond Street my Grandson was given his own nurse for the night and required emergency surgery the next day.
