"Well run clinics, but waiting times lengthy at Birley Health Centre"

About: Birley Health Centre

(as a service user),

You cannot phone for an appointment until 8.30am on the same day. At this point if you cannot get an appointment which I usually find to be the case you are already late for work.

I feel some of the receptionists are opinionated about your need for an appointment.

The waiting time always seems lengthy.

The services offered (such as asthma clinics, baby clinic etc) are well run and efficient.

Thank you for your feedback. Appointments can be made in advance aswell as on the day, the first hour of each day and some afternoon appointments are prebookable up to a month in advance.

The lines are busy in a morning and at least 4 receptionists man the 6 lines coming in and are aware demand is often high for same day appointments. Receptionists are asked by the doctors to find out the urgency of the patient when the days appointments are taken and that is why they have to ask so many questions to pass the information to the doctor.

We have over 8000 patients at this surgery and run a large selection of clinics which i am pleased to hear you feel are well run. I am unsure if you mean the waiting time in waiting room or to see a doctor but i shall answer both to make sure i cover all areas you are concerned about. Doctors at our surgery do not work here every day so sometimes this makes the wait to see a particular doctor seem lengthy, in the waiting room if a consultation goes on longer than expected it does have a knock on effect which unfortunately happens.
