"An Excellent Standard of Care"

About: Poole General Hospital

What I liked

All staff were extremely caring and kind. I have had 4 visits to the hospital so far, 3 to the gynaecology unit and 1 to the day of surgery unit. Everyone involved in the whole process has been helpful, pleasant and knowledgable.

The lovely receptionist took the time to read me a patient information leaflet over the phone because I was away from home so couldn't read the one they sent in the post. The excellent anaesthetist combined a warm and reassuring bedside manner with vital distraction tactics for my first general anaesthetic! The consultant I saw for my very first appointment was the same doctor I saw for every appointment thereafter and who performed my surgery. Her manner is kind and reassuring and she involves me in all decisions relating to my care. There are way too many to mention but the nurses, healthcare assistants, porters and everyone else have all been fantastic. During my appointments and pre/post op, they made me feel in safe hands.

What could be improved

Nothing at all!

Anything else?

I have been very lucky and never had any previous experience of being a patient before. The perception I had of the NHS was purely built on what I had heard from others and the media and sadly this is almost always negative.

I had very short waiting times for appointments and exceptional treatment the whole way through. I still have more to come and although I can't say I'm looking forward to it(!) I definitely feel more comfortable knowing I am under the care of such experts.
