What I liked

We went to A/E after being advised to by the NHS Direct. I have never been to this hospital before so was nervous and fearful.

However, from the moment I saw the first nurse, through to having an ECG, blood tests and xrays I could not have been cared for better.

All of the staff were efficient, friendly and warm, sensitive and proffessional. From having severe heart palpitations I was made to relax completely and the whole process was explained to me with good humour and patience.

The hospital was very clean, and in my experience, incredibly well organised.

People are too easy to criticise, but I can say that something I was dreading turned into a pleasant, re assuring expererience.

I'm glad this is my local hospital, and a big thank you to all the staff

What could be improved

More magazines or reading material, plus childrens books in the waiting room.

So many waiting rooms are office like, bland places - a few easy to care for plants to green things up and give out oxygen would be an asset.

We are always striving to make the hospital environment a more pleasant and welcoming place for patients and visitors, and we will look in to the suggestions for improving our waiting areas.
