What I liked
Nil - I have visited the Royal on several occassions now and it always seems to of a low standard.
What could be improved
Waiting over 45 minutes for Triage in A&E. I thought that Triage meant that patients were seen quickly and then assessed, advised and prioritised. The assessment was brief bordering on non-existent and the advice was even worse. Having already waited 1 hour we were told it would be at least another 2 hours before we saw a Doctor.
Anything else?
Working in the NHS I understand the pressures and unfortunately, on occassion, the limitations it has. But the waiting time simply to be triaged and then the attitude of the assessment I felt was poor.
I have always been a strong supporter of the NHS as a healthcare system, and still think that a health service that is free at the point of use is a wonderful ideal, but if due to whatever reason the standard of the care is going to be at the level I experienced tonight perhaps things need to be changed.
