"Reception absolutely awful; nurse and doctor..."

What I liked

Once we were through reception to the department my 4 year old grandson received kind, caring attentition from the nurse and the doctor. Everything was fully explained to his mother and to a lesser (obviously) degree to the child himself... top marks.

What could be improved

A new receptionist at A&E

Reception at A&E dreadful. I carried my grandson in and the male receptionist totally ignored me... his photocopying seemed more important to him. When he did decide to take some details about 5 minutes after my arrival he did not act kindly and made me feel that he just wasn't interested. About 45 minutes after our arrival my grandson's temperature rose and a rash appeared on his body. My daughter went to the receptionist and again had to wait for his attention while he did yet more photocopying! She informed him of the development but I don't think he let anyone know as we still waited nearly an hour more.

I write this because my grandson could have died during the wait after the rash appeared - the department wasn't busy - and the lack of concern and attentition from the receptionist left a lot to be desired. Quite frankly we would have been treated better at a supermarket
