About: Queen Charlotte's Hospital

What could be improved

There has been a total cut back in antenatal care to the point of it being almost non-existent. This is very worrying and disconcerting for a first time mother. Antenatal classes reduced from 3 session to 1, cancellation of delivery suite tours and apparent suspension of birth centre tours due to risk of swine flu, although no information about resumption of tours has been provided. How is a first time mother supposed to understand the nature of labour or make a decision about the type of delivery to have, based on little or rushed information. Other hospitals offer virtual tours as an alternative, which are also not ideal but at least there is an alternative. Queen Charlottes has decided to cancel a service without providing an alternative. I sincerely hope that the care during labour is better than what I have experienced so far. The workings and lay out of the hospital above the ground floor are a total mystery to me.

Anything else?

Antenatal care is practically non-existent. I cannot comment on in-patient care.
