"Excellent care for prostate cancer"

About: St John's Hospital / Urology Western General Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

In August 2004, I agreed to take part in the ProTect study and shortly afterwards in October was diagnosed with Prostate cancer, albeit at an early stage.

I was quickly operated on in November 2004 and the care I received in the Western General Hospital was second to none. I had my prostate removed and returned to work after three months.

In June 2006 due to a PSA reading still being recorded, it was decided that I would have a 4 week course of radiotherapy. I was impressed by the Radiotherapy department as I was in and out of each treatment in a matter of minutes.

The follow up has also been excellent and am now clear of any cancer.
