"Communication needs improving"

What could be improved

The only thing that let this hospital down was a major lack of communication.

While I understand how busy all the staff is there is no excuse for failing to keep patients informed – I am not expecting detailed information – I am talking about some very basic communication.

Every time I was referred for tests and eventually admitted to ward I was not told what was happening unless I asked. Even my follow up appointment which was for 3.15 – I've been waiting until 5pm without a single explanation. If only us / patients were told that clinic is running two hours late we could have gone home or somewhere else and come back later.
