"Bowel cancer and waiting to hear from Leeds"

About: Chase Farm Hospital / General surgery Leeds General Infirmary / General surgery The Royal Marsden Hospital (London)

(as the patient),

I was misdiagnosed for two years, being told by my Doctors I had IBS and constipation, only to find in January 2011 I had stage 4 Bowel Cancer and in an emergency I had to have a stoma to save my life (the tumour was so big I was obstructed) and my body had shut down due to malnutrition.

The hospital said they could cure me in January but then after 8 months they had to stop my big operation as they made a mistake and my tumour was against my spine they said.

I was referred to the Royal Marsden who did lots of scans and said next time things would be done differently with another patient! They can't help but they referred me to a Dr in Leeds whom I was told had done many of these ops and was my only hope.

I waited 9 weeks and Leeds had a meeting after I was kept waiting and kept calling them, and after I kept calling again to get the response of the meeting now I'm told they do not have time to write the letter for another week so im to call back in 7 days.

Bearing in mind I do not know if I am terminal or not at this stage and I am going through chemotherapy. I have a 10 year old son...plus I've been let down now by the NHS time and time again, is it not fair to say that they could have taken my feelings into consideration and called me the day after their meeting to sit me down and talk to me to put me out of the waiting game.

I feel like I'm on death row awaiting a sentence.
