What I liked
I gave birth to my son on Oct 25th after a very long labour. Like most first time Mums, it didn't go how I'd hoped, but the midwifery care I received was excellent. Every step of the way I was involved in the decisions, informed about options and felt very safe and in the hands of true professionals. My midwife and student midwife were nothing short of wonderful - and they put myself and my husband at ease. In the end, the birth was smooth, and our son arrived with no problems, and it was wonderful to have carers who delighted in his safe arrival as much as we did. I couldn't be more thankful for the level of care we received. Our night in the Birth Centre was also brilliant, having help on hand to assist with feeding and every little question that comes with a newborn. It was very reassuring indeed.
Overall, Queen Charlottes is a very busy unit, so whilst the ante-natal care was sometimes less than brilliant in terms of waiting times and the attention you receive, I feel it's to be expected as staff are only trying to do the best with what they can, and actually, I never felt short changed as I had a very straightforward pregnancy and always got what I needed in terms of my baby's check ups.
Keep up the good work Queen Charlottes - you're doing a wonderful job for all us Mums and Dads. Thank you very much.
"Excellent level of care. Thank you."
