What I liked
In Ultrasound guided steroid injection, I was looked after by a radiology assistant and a doctor. I was introduced to the doctor but did not catch his name.. however, he immediately included me in the discussion and examination of the problem joint (wrist) and explained everything he was doing, wanting my agreement for injection to go ahead. When I concurred, he was empathic and professional and at all times treated me as an equal, intelligent person. When done, he was keen to show me on my Xray (which the computer system had allowed them to access) what he had done and why and was happy to discuss a longer term strategy. The problem was clearly - as I already knew and he stated - osteoarthritis, and I wasn't fobbed off with the usual 'wear and tear - it's your age' (I'm 56 and very active) euphimism.
I felt for the first time that I wasn't fighting a losing battle!
The appointment was on time and everyone very helpful.
What could be improved
I would have liked to be clearer on the doctor's name. I had waited longer than I'd expected for the appointment, which was worth the wait, but when I need to discuss further treatment through my GP would have liked to express a preference (if possible!) for the same doctor.
