"Neurological Surgery at the Royal Hallamshire"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital / Neurosurgery

(as the patient),

My daughter, was admitted to Sheffield Hallamshire Hospital with a recurrence of hydrocephalus having had her shunt removed some years ago.

My daughter has cerebal palsy and requires a high level of care so I always stay with her. Whenever my daughter has been admitted to hospital (childrens and adults) I have always been treated well and with respect in all of the Sheffield Hospitals and her treatment has been good.

We want to acknowledge the high level of care on N1 and N2; at all times we were well informed and visited often by the staff involved with her surgery. We were not introduced to the Consultant, but that was of no concern to us as we had met him during his time as a Registrar some years ago and all 3 Registrars that would be assisting him gave us confidence in the level of care and the procedure required answering our questions fully and competently.

We particularly recommend Ruth on N2 who managed the tricky process of obtaining blood samples from my daughter when another staff nurse lacked ability and confidence and Eve on N1 who ensured that my daughter's needs and dignity were addressed very well.

The level of cleanliness had been better than ever experienced before and we were happy with the food choices and quality, although sometimes quite cool when served on N2.
