"Going to Holland for earlier colonoscopy"

About: Kingston Hospital

(as the patient),

So I came back from Holland after being treated incredibly well in the hospitals there. They recommended the same procedure that my doctors in the UK recommended.

The difference is this. I saw the doctor in Holland and have a colonoscopy booked for 24 days later in Holland. I saw my doctor in England and I am told that I will have to wait another six weeks in the UK for an inferior procedure - not a complete colonoscopy but a flexible sigmoidoscopy. So basically they only do half the procedure in the UK and make you wait three times as long.

There was something that disturbed me on this site. Over 33,000 stories are told. Apparently over 1400 staff are listening, but only 200 changes have been made. So to put that in mathematical terms - 0.5% of all the stories make any difference whatsoever.

Does that bother you? It bothers me.
