What I liked
Had my first baby here and expecting second shortly. Excellent midwives, caring, experienced (senior midwife worked out baby had cord round its neck when consultant didn't). Great support both in labour and later on ward. Overnight stay very welcome, no pressure to go home quickly, Couldn't have asked for better from the midwives. Calm and reassuring environment at time (not too busy on post labour ward).
What could be improved
Consultants very variable from excellent to appallingly arrogant.
Outside department professionals not quick to respond - anaethatist and paediatrician.
As with all NHS hospital care you have to be quite mentally strong and remember you are an adult and have a choice not just a NHS tick list to conform to!!
As anywhere, luck of draw whether you 'click' with the personality of your midwife on duty - I was lucky, I had natural birth with full on epidural and managed this due to the encouragement, support and belief of my midwife, thank you !!!
"Lovely staff and environment, less of a production..."
