"If they lie to you why would you put your life in..."

About: Royal Derby Hospital

What I liked

sorry got nothing for this one, i do receive treatment from other departments that are excellent but today i am only discussing this one

What could be improved

If they lie to you why would you put your life in there hands !

i was referred by my dentist in Sept 2009 after a pituitary tumor left my jaw misaligned and with no bite contact, i had a initial consultant's appointment in Nov 2009 followed by photo's and imprint's in Feb 2010 and eventually a joint ortho/max-fax appointment in may 2010 when it was agreed i would have braces fitted in about 6 weeks and after about 18 months of manipulation i would be ready for surgery top and bottom jaw and at some point they would probably need to re-size my tongue.i said ok

2 months later still not received an appointment called orthodontic dept they told put me through to the consultants secretary, her first response was it has never been 6 weeks its usually a few months but she would check with the consultant, she called back a few weeks later and stated that was the case.

march 2011 called again this time was told 12 month wait but we are a but behind at the moment

june 2011 told at least 18 months and always has been and i would not be seen by the consultant i saw but would be added to the list of a new one they have starting in January 2012

lodged formal complaint as consultant led treatment should start in 18 weeks from referral not 28 months it took 2 months to get a response and it was the end of October before they would meet us an all they did was say sorry we have implemented procedures to make sure all staff give clear and consistent information, woo hoo and also yes you do have the right to be treated elsewhere but because we have dragged our feet so long you might actually get an appointment here in January, Albee it with an unknown consultant that you have never met!

for gods sake i only want my teeth to bite together so i can chew food again is that really so much to ask or should i pull the little buggers out myself and get dentures ?

Anything else?

i am really trying to remain calm
