"Mainly supportive, frieny staff and a clean,..."

About: Royal Surrey County Hospital

What I liked

I was taken to the Royal Surrey from St Richards hospital by ambulance as there are liver surgery specialists at the Royal Surrey (I had a liver bleed and lacerations after falling on an obstcle course) I was taken straight up to the High Dependency Unit and the nurses were very friendly. The doctors were also friendly and explained everything to me clearly.

Everyone was very helpful and the same can be said for the staff on Hascombe ward. Also, on HDU I was always being helped around when necessary, talked through all the procedures and the nurses were lovely to talk to!

Thank you everybody for making my 11 day stay at the Royal Surrey as comfortable as possible! I appreciate how hard you all work! You are all very kind and lovely people! Please can you pass this on to the HDU and maybe Hascombe ward staff if possible? Thank you! I'm now much, much better, back to school and waiting for an ultrasound!

What could be improved

#Television costs a lot!

#It is quite intimidating when doctors come to see you along with a large group of med students/junior doctors. I wouldn't mind as much if the groups were smaller but you don't really know where to look!

#Noisy night times! I know the bleeping of monitors can't be helped but I was with 5 elderly patients whom were quite noisy and sometimes even aggressive toward the nurses! The radio was also playing very, very quietly all night, every night.

#Hospital food = Ew.

#Waited for hours and sometimes almost 2 days for MRI and CT results which was quite frustrating.

#I did hear some nurses complaining about how the doctors don't communicate with the nurses very well so that could be a problem.

Anything else?

There were a couple of old ladies that passed by every day in their pink dressing gowns wuth their zimmer frames! Made my day!

My Dad fell ill a couple of days before I was discharged so I was pretty lonely until he was let out but he's fine and the staff were supportive.
