"I find Rotherham hospitals excellent"

About: Rotherham Hospital

(as the patient),

I was sent for a CT scan on my right lung by my doctor - a blood clot was found. I was put in the Fitzwilliam Ward and was put on warfarin. I had been on warfarin before. I was also put on antibiotics for a lung infection and also iron tablets. I was kept in the hospital taking warfarin.

One day I fell asleep during the afternoon during which time doctors came to see me but could not wake me up. I was in a sleep apnea state (sort of semi conscious) I was aware of what was going on but my body could not react. During my awakening my identity strap was broken (I told the doctor I had sleep apnea) later on of the nursing staff in dark blue uniform told me I was lazy, which I am not and did not admit? I was discharged the same day, my warfarin dose being set at 1 milligram? I do not want to get nurses into bother but this actually happened.

I now go to the warfarin clinic in the Sitwell wing, and now see Dr Bardsley for my sleeping problem for which I have a medicine. I hope you find it interesting. There was no follow up about my state of which I would have discussed this.

I felt like the doctors were glad to get rid of me. I find Rotherham hostpials excellent having been in Boston and Bassetlaw and the one bed hospital in Skegness.

I hope you are enlightened.

Dear long112, your posting has been discussed with senior staff at the hospital who are concerned to learn of your experience with us as we do try very hard to provide a caring and supportive environment for our patients and on this occasion it would appear that we have fallen short of the quality service we do our best to achieve.

We would very much like to be able to help you and due to the concerns you have expressed perhaps you could contact our Patient Services Department direct on 01709 424461 who are aware of your posting and will be able to discuss this with you further.

With best wishes,

Grace
