"Daughter's orthodontic brace problem - no dental cover"

About: Bournemouth and Poole Teaching PCT / Emergency dental service NHS Direct NHS Trust

(as a relative),

My 15 year old's orthodontic brace wire came out of the back bracket and was poking into her gum/cheek, very sore, very uncomfortable.

When I phoned the local dental out of hours service I was told there were no dentists at all in any way for my area tonight (Friday) and they could not assist me at all. I was shocked to hear this and explained again the situation, but it really was correct, no dental care at all for anybody at all in my area of Dorset tonight. We are seeing a dentist in the morning, but this really needed a temporary fix tonight (Friday).
