About: Medway Maritime Hospital

What I liked

surgical staff first rate

What could be improved

After care poor nurses without apparent interest in or training in simple procedures lottery as to whether this was done well or badly. lack of communication between surgeons and ward staff and ward staff and other department in the hospital frequent and potentially dangerous discharge fiascos including a failure to ensure patient left with the correct medication and or antibiotics and a general defensive attitude seeking to escape responsibility when pressed rather than putting the patient first and adding value by solving the problem at hand.

Thank you for taking the time to offer us your feedback.

We are very sorry that the experience did not meet your expectations. Your comments have been passed to the appropriate department in order for them to learn from the experience and improve on services for the future.

The issues raised that relate to discharge and medication are taken seriously and will be highlighted with the nurse lead for discharge and also the nurses on the ward. All patients are encouraged to raise any issues with the senior sister at the time of their stay in order for the Trust to have the opportunity to put things right.

Thank you once again for bringing this to our attention.
