"my experience was one that we all hope to have......."

About: Leighton Hospital

What I liked

I came into this ward initially from A & E and EAU ward, and my stay was approximately 8 days. I have to say that my experience was probably one that we all would hope for should we be faced with having to contact the Emergency services, by that i mean i have been treated with the best of care, consideration and empathy, not to mention professionalism by all of the staff i came into contact with, the Nurses worked around the clock to ensure that all their procedures were done on time and correctly, whilst i saw them under a lot of pressure at times, they still somehow managed to maintain a sense of humour to enhance the mood of each patient which as i watched on thought was truly commendable at times.

The consultants were always around in the day when i was scheduled to see them, but if you had a question or worry when they were not, your message would reach them swiftly and you would either have a repeat visit, or the sister would come to my aid.

Now i personally ended up with a complication that was unexpected and was only discovered during my stay here - however again my experience through all the care i received has been as much as i could have hoped for. And so i just want to say a special thank you to the staff for their effort in making my stay as comfortable as possible.....i wont forget it.

What could be improved

There is only one single point that i could possibly mention that may help each Nurse to completely understand their patients needs should they not have already built up some sort of relationship over their working shifts, this would be to have a more in-depth patient history report when new/unfamiliar staff come onto the ward to start work - what i mean is you as the patient have concerns that you will mention to the Nurse/s that currently look after you, however when they change shift i found that besides my noted medical issues that they would read, my personal concerns regarding my conditions had to be repeated each time a new nurse would look after me, this eventually was resolved when i had spent a week here on the ward.

Anything else?

a special thanks to all the staff at Leighton Hospital who looked after me.
