"We are so fortunate to have all this good care..."

About: Queen's Hospital, Burton Upon Trent

What I liked

I can not praise the staff highly enough. They were warm, caring & courteous. Buzzers were answered promptly, and I noticed that patients much older than I, and perhaps a bit confused, were treated with patience at all times.(this gave me hope for the future, as it is probably a stage we all get to, if God spares us).

The nurses on that ward are certainly not 'too posh to wash'----as expressed by many in a discussion on radio 4 recently. I wrote to them to say so.

I would also like to express my thanks to the staff I saw on A&E, both on my initial visit and on two subsequent occasions, when they were so kind, and I was probably just reacting to 'beta blockers' and panicking. I was frightened and they reassured me.

I really feel that all the treatment I have received, including that of the paramedics who attended me has helped me make such a wonderful recovery.

I have now started to avail myself of the exercise classes provided for cardiac rehabilitation.

I really appreciate the car I have received, and hope you will pass this on to all concerned.

Yours sincerely,

Elizabeth McHale 8/10/11

What could be improved

It's pretty well impossible to sleep most nights, but I can't really see how that can be improved.

One sister was using a torch to write on the white board and to access files etc

Maybe the curtains around the beds could be drawn at night, but they may need to be open for necessary observation.

Thank you for sharing your experiences about the care you received in Accident and Emergency and in Cardiology.

Your views on the quality of care at Burton Hospitals are very important to us and it’s reassuring to discover that such a high level of care is being applied throughout the Trust.

Lorna Catlin, Matron for General and Speciality Medicine.
