My great granddaughter is a patient on Rainbow Ward (RAE Wigan). She was having sever seizures. I and my family have only the highest praise and respect for her consultant and all the staff. The support and care are second to none.

My only concern is for my granddaughter and her partner who at this very very traumatic time rules only allow one parent to stay overnight. Could arrangements not be made for a room to be made available for the other parent to also stay so they could give each other moral support and to share the burden of all night vigils.

I believe Manchester Childrens Hospital provide a room (3 beds) that the other parent can stay in. I feel this would alleviate a lot of heartache and a lot of stress.

Thank you so much for your very positive comments regarding Rainbow ward and it was pleasing to hear that the care provided to your granddaughter was "second to none".

We appreciate your thoughts on the provision of a room for both parents to stay in and this is an area that we need to consider for the future although this issue is not one that has been raised previously. Thank you so much for your suggestions.

I have passed your comments through to the Matron for Rainbow ward so that she can both share these with the ward staff and also look at the issue regarding the room for both parents to stay when their child has been admitted.
