"RAF mental health care in Lincolnshire"

About: Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

I posted a few months ago about lack of inpatient care for RAF patients. People are still being sent to Peterborough because the mental health trust in Lincolnshire only has 1 bed for RAF personel.

In view of extra money being given to Lincolnshire to help RAF personel, will the Trust be increasing the number of RAF people allowed beds in Lincolnshire?

I did not get any response to my last posting. They did not even bother reading it.

I am sorry that your original posting on Patient Opinion regarding the provision of inpatient services for serving personnel of the armed forces was overlooked. Patient Opinion provide us with an e-mail alert to postings which we appear to have missed on that occasion. In response to your concerns regarding services for RAF personnel, we are part of the national provision for all serving Ministry of Defence personnel (RAF, Navy and Army). The MOD operates a single point of access for referrals in the UK which allocates the beds. There are seven NHS Trusts who provide beds for the MOD through this centralised allocation process across the country. Please do not hesitate to contact our PALS Officer on 01529 222265 who will be able to liaise with the service manager responsible if you would like any further information or assistance .

We have had some further clarification from our Service Manager regarding the provision of services for the MOD in addition to the two beds we provide; we also provide a lot of community support to the MOD under the armed forcers covenant. Unfortunately we are not receiving any additional money for the beds but are working with the DoH and Combat Stress to improve patient pathways into mental health services across the East Midlands area for veterans.

We can also clarify that LPFT has not sent any service personnel to Peterborough for a bed as explained in the previous posting as there is a single point of access via the MOD.
