"good in the end but most of the staff were rude..."

About: North Manchester General Hospital

What I liked

The doctor and one of the nurses that treated my partner treated her with dignity and respect and how I would expect to be treated myself. They took the time to explain everything to her and answer any questions. They also showed her compassion as she was very nervous about what was going to happen whilst at a&e.

What could be improved

Although the doctor and one nurse gave excellent care, the ward nurse and the other nurses we saw gave her very poor care. They were frankly very rude and spoke to us as if we were a piece of dirt on their shoe. It felt like we were making some great inconvenience for them and they did not want or have any time to show her the much needed compassion and reassurance she needed to assure her and us that everything was being done to make her short stay a comfortable one. It's experiences like these that make people not want to goto a&e and it just shows how inconsistent the standard of care is in a&e departments.
