What I liked
My whole experience at PAH was such a positive one I had to post some praise for it's maternity Unit. I was admitted onto the Chamberlen Ward on Friday 26th August for an induction . I could see how very busy the staff on the ward were as people came and went from my room and emergencies came though the doors regularly during my stay. I saw what a well oiled machine the whole system of Harlow Maternity Unit was when prioritising which patients went onto labour ward first.
My son came into the world, on Monday 29th August 2011 on Labour Ward. My midwife was nothing short of absolutely amazing! Her calm and positive presence was very special. My partner and my recollection is that together we managed to create a very magical, calm, focussed and special atmosphere for our son to come into and it was her calm reassurance that enabled us to do that.
I moved to the Samson Ward later on the same day, my partner and again my experience was nothing but fantastic. In particular I would like to thank the ladies from the Breast Feeding Support Unit for your practical support and encouragement. My son is thriving and I felt extremely, well equipped and supported when I left Hospital, to continue breast feeding at home.
I have to say that my whole experience of PAH Maternity unit was more than fantastic and as I said to some midwives whist I was there “ if everyone in the world worked as hard a NHS midwives, the whole country would be in much better shape!”
"Excellent and exceeded our expectations."
