"Very positive experience as a day patient."

About: Bath Clinic

What I liked

I went to the Bath Clinic as a day patient. I was treated really well on the ward, they made sure I was comfortable and well informed about how the day would run. As I was having a local anaesthetic for my procedure I was awake throughout the whole operation. The staff in the operating theatre were wonderful, very attentive and caring. They made me feel relaxed and extremely well looked after. I would have no hesitation in returning to the clinic for any future operations.

What could be improved

I feel that the post operative advice could have been a little more informative and useful. There were things in the literature that didn't cover wound aftercare, such as when could I soak in the bath without aggravating the new healing scar. My surgery meant that I couldn't do any heavy lifting for 6 weeks - what constitutes heavy lifting? I know now that this means nothing above 5kg for my particular procedure, this sort of thing would have been very helpful to know straight after the surgery. So my advice to anyone having surgery is to ask lots of questions in case it's not covered specifically in the documentation they hand out. Don't let this put you off though, the medical care was fabulous.

Anything else?

My experience at the hospital was very positive; friendly, smiling staff; a clean environment; good food.
