"I am very happy that I was seen at the LGI!"

About: Leeds General Infirmary

What I liked

I have visited the LGI for several tests, including an MRI and EEG, and each time have been impressed by the hospital and its staff. I do not feel I need to qualify that statement at all.

The staff were superb, talking me through what was about to happen and what I needed to do. The tests were performed quickly and, where I was required to move or to direct my vision, I was given plenty of time to do so.

Although my tests started late on each occasion, they finished on time due to the efficiency of the staff.

The LGI also surprised me with its catering and refreshments facilities. I was anticipating a long queue for poor, bland food. The food I ate was easily of a high street standard, and reasonably priced into the bargain.

The male toilets were being cleaned so I was directed to use the disabled facilities by the staff. It's worth noting that although they had not been cleaned immediately prior to my visit, it was very clear they had been cleaned recently. The hospital is well-presented and clean throughout, and you couldn't turn around without seeing a handwash station, with bright and attention-grabbing signage inviting the use thereof.

What could be improved

My tests starting late were minor concerns, some explanation of why they were running behind schedule would have been appreciated, but this minor complaint is mitigated by the fact that I was out of the hospital on time.

Anything else?

The LGI is a superb hospital with great facilities, and wonderful staff. The NHS should be applauded for providing such fine service, free at the point of use.
