About: Guernsey House / Primary care addiction service Sheffield (PCASS)

I have been to Guernsey House about 8 and a half years. Today I came in with an issue regarding benefits. The reception and Doctor were very helpful and a duty worker saw me straight away. The staff at Guernsey are always v. respectful and friendly. On a number of occasions they have gone above and beyond to help me with many issues. Sometimes the waiting time to see the Dr can be up to 40 mins but I do think its a service worth waiting for. Compared to other drug services in other areas Guernsey House lead the way in many aspects of Drug Services! Thanks.

Thanks for taking the time to post about Guernsey House. We are really pleased to hear that you have had such good service from our staff, treating our clients and our colleagues with dignity and respect is very important to us, alongside offering a range of services to help with the wide range of issues our client group are dealing with.

As you have said, the waiting times can sometimes be much longer than anyone would want (clients and staff both) and we have recently increased the number of appointments available to help ease the pressure. However, as you may have experienced yourself, we do try to be as flexible as is reasonable, so when clients arrive late they will often still be seen and when doctors see that a client has urgent needs they might be seen for longer than the planned appointment time.

We do encourage clients to book into one of the first appointments in order to avoid being affected by delays - however this wouldn't apply to seeing the duty worker as that is a 'turn up and wait' service for clients who's needs can't wait for a planned appointment.
