What I liked
Great Consultants and Doctors. Some very good nurses and HCAs. Critical Care nurses a credit.
Many of the ancillary services staff, bloods, pharmacy, cleaners, porters, x-ray, nuclear medicine etc. are really considerate.
What could be improved
Less time ticking boxes and more on patient care. Fewer bank staff. Having been left in faeces 7 times despite theoretically cleaned, hygiene standards are evidently a very low priority. Food is abysmal and portions wouldn't sustain a mouse. On a long stay (bed bound) lack of in-patient services eg. Radio, TV, internet unacceptable. In 3 months no management (non-medical) team were ever seen on the ward, so they are presumably un-interested in meeting service users, rather in filling in forms.
I would not recommend this hospital, which is a shame, as many of the staff are superb, from Consultant, to cleaners, pharmacists, phlebotomists, catering, porters admin nurses, etc. Far too many however are merely time serving and the lack of interest in patients by the executive seeps through the hospital.
Anything else?
The non medical management team needs to get out of the office and in to the wards to hear from patients directly. This is a poorly run hospital with more time expended in pointless system changes than actually meeting the needs of patients. Notice boards are full of efficiency saving programmes, none with patient care and support priorities, just bar charts on infections, falls and staff absence.
"unacceptable personal hygene standards"
