What could be improved
I found the checking in at Reception left a lot to be desired. I had an appointment at the Eye Clinic for 08.30 so presented myself for check-in at 08.15. 3 members of staff were there, standing around and chatting but the check-in desks were not open. I was told that they would not be open until just before 08.30. I queried this as I have always understood the hospital liked patients to check-in 10-15 minutes before the appointment time, and had ensured I was there in time to do this. I was met by what I can only describe as rudeness from the staff who simply re-iterated loudly that the check-in would not open before 08.25 at the earliest and would not give any explanation. I asked for a complaint form but was told they didn't have any and I could get one from PALs which was also closed. I found their attitude most unpleasant and unhelpful. Fortunately my experience at the eye clinic was excellent. What a pity the quality of some ancillary staff does not match that of the professionals!
