What I liked
The home from home team were very caring and reassured me through what was a scary experience, unfortunately as I was overdue I had to move to the ward where medical intervention was required.
What could be improved
Post natal care was awful, the duty midwife for my one night stay was overbearing and insisted that curtains separating beds remain pulled back so that patients were allowed no privacy. Bright lights were turned on regularly during the night ensuring no one was able to sleep, I realise this was to monitor the mother and newborns, but on previous stays after giving birth, this has always been carried out as discretely as possible. I had been awake for over 36 hours at this point and was in tears from sheer tiredness. The next morning I was advised I could leave by midday, however I was not released until after 8pm that evening as the process of discharging patients was incredibly slow, other patients were shouting at the staff in frustration, it was an awful experience.
"Insensitive Post natal care ruined the sterling..."
